Founder
Beth Harbinson is the founder of Sobar® and has worked in non-profit management, fundraising, and development for 30 years.
Beth conceived of Sobar® when she was behind the scenes at a VIP Bar. When she went to get a non-alcoholic beverage, her choices were soda, Red Bull, or water.
She thought “Why not offer adult non-alcoholic beverages at restaurants, bars, and events - everywhere we celebrate?” With a growing percentage of people choosing not to drink or drink more mindfully, Sobar believes there should be celebratory alcohol-free choices everywhere we go.
Beth is committed to local efforts focused on reducing the stigma associated with alcoholism, addiction and mental illness and providing greater access to treatment resources. In 2017, her project Sobar® - a play on the words sober and bar - received funding from the Horizon Foundation and the United Way of Central Maryland.
Sobar’s mission is to provide and promote innovative beverage options to those who cannot and choose not to drink alcohol.
Beth currently sits on the Opioid Crisis Community Council which will be working closely with Howard County Government to allocate over 17 million dollars in Opioid Restitution Fund dollars coming into the county from various settlements over the next 16 years.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more.
